Antique plain gold filled photo locket with antique chain
This locket is such a treasure. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find gold filled lockets, particularly ones in this good of condition, that are blank on both sides, and with an antique chain. This beauty can likely can be engraved. It opens and closes with a click, and it even has its complete photo protectors on the inside.
HISTORY: This locket is stamped on the inside (on the ring part of the photo protector) for W&S Blackington Company, founded in the late 1800's in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Given the style of photo protector we date this to the 1940's. The chain with its tube clasp could be older.
METAL/MATERIAL: 12k gold filled locket and chain. Gold filled items are made with a very thick plating of gold which holds up well over time (and in this case, for 80 years!)
CONDITION: The locket itself is in amazing condition. It opens and closes well, it has its photo protectors, and it has a nice shine with minimal wear to the gold fill. The chain has some wear to the gold fill, particularly around the tube clasp, but it closes well. It does get scrunched up in some places, particularly when not being worn.
SIZE: The locket is 1 1/8" diameter and hangs just about 1.5" from the chain. The chain measures 22"
Each piece of jewelry from the shop comes boxed and ready fro gift giving.
