James Little Signed Navajo Turquoise Ring
Unassuming at first glance, this is a valuable piece made and signed by the famous Navajo silversmith James Little. This ring is an earlier Little design, as he has most recently been known for his goldsmithed contemporary pieces. This is a versatile and gorgeous piece, with an irregularly shaped oval turquoise stone, encircled by a rope design and three decorative circles. Its shape elongates the fingers and its look is a classic Native American style - a beautiful piece, and a great one for the Navajo jewelry collector.
HISTORY: Stamped with the hallmark of the Navajo artist James Little - a "JL" in an arrowhead. I estimate this to be 1970's, a time when Little did more silversmithing of this style before he jumped into goldsmithing.
MATERIALS: Sterling silver, turquoise
SIZE: Ring size 6 1/4. The setting of the ring measures 7/8" north to south by 9/16" in width east to west.
CONDITION: Beautiful condition. The stone is set strong, and very few scratches. There is a nice patina to the crevices in the setting and in the underside, which I've left intact because it adds to the depth and character.
