Edwardian Opal and Rose Cut Diamond Halo Ring
You can't get much better - an antique halo ring with a rainbow hued opal at its center, encircled by 6 beautiful rose cut diamonds. The opal has tremendous fire, flashing green, red, purple and orange as you move your hand. The earthy rose cut diamonds add just the right amount of sparkle, and the rose gold metal matches the warmth of the opal. While the view from above is spellbinding, the view from the side is equally as enchanting, with buttercup settings for the diamonds and scalloped edges all around.
This ring also holds a secret - engraved on the inside is the date of "6-11-05" - a lovely detail that speaks to the history of the ring. The script style hand engraving is wonderful.
This combines the best that the Edwardian (and end of Victorian) period has to offer - rose cuts with moody opal, rose gold and detailed settings, and the date! So exquisite.
HISTORY: Dated 6-11-05, for 1905. This dates the ring to the Edwardian period. However, given the rose cut diamonds and overall style this may be a late Victorian piece that was engraved at a later point.
MATERIALS: 10k rose gold, diamonds, opal
SIZE: Ring size 5 1/2. The opal measures 4 mm and each diamond measures 1 mm. The ring weighs 1.69 g
CONDITION: Absolutely beautiful antique condition. While the band has some thinning, it still has a lot of life left in it. The stones look great and prongs are intact. There is a solder line evident in the bottom inside of the band.
Wow! What a ring. *Please note antique boxes not included with purchase.
