Antique Gold Filled Lotus Flower Child's Locket Necklace
Sometimes when I hold particular antique objects in my hand, they evoke deep emotions. This is one of those pieces. The stunning flower on the front, the beautiful hand engraving on the back, the short chain indicative of a child's necklace. It's just so special. This rare and amazing find would make for a perfect gift.
HISTORY: This locket is from the Art Nouveau period, early 1900's. This period in jewelry was characterized by depictions of nature, with lilies like this one often making an appearance. Lilies, and particularly lotuses, symbolize renewal, transcendence and purity.
MATERIAL: The locket and chain are gold filled and unmarked.
CONDITION: Both the locket and chain are gorgeous but show slight signs of wear to the gold fill, particularly around the edges of the locket, inside the locket, and the toggle/clasp of the chain.
SIZE: This piece is dainty and all signs point towards its history as a children's necklace. The locket itself is 11/16" at its widest, and hangs 7/8" from the chain. The chain is short, measuring 13.5" in length.
This piece is timeless, perfect, rare.
