Golden Garnet and Pearl Ladybug Brooch

Insect jewelry is fast becoming the rage as of late, and this vintage one is a charmer. A warm 14k yellow gold ladybug holds a large garnet between her spread wings, and a pearl at her head. With the detail to the wings and the curved articulation of the legs, this piece has tremendous detail and is a precious little thing. This would be a great everyday pin for a suit, jacket or blouse, or would make a wonderful and unique bridal hair pin.

HISTORY: Estimated 1970's

MATERIALS: 14k gold, pearl, garnet

SIZE: The pin measures 7/8" in length by 3/4" in width. The garnet measures 7mm by 9mm. The pearl measures 3mm. It weighs 4.7 g.

CONDITION: Excellent vintage condition. The garnet does have a large inclusion in it, as can be seen in the photo, but it doesn't affect the integrity of the stone. The pin mechanism works well.
