Victorian Toi et Moi Diamond Ring
The most darling of Victorian pieces, perfect for the person seeking a unique and one-of-a-kind ring. Two small old cut diamonds sit within flower-like belcher settings, giving the piece dimensionality while still allowing the diamonds to sit flush with the setting. This style of stone placement, known as toi-et-moi, translates to "me and you" - a lovely and romantic sentiment. Adorning the shoulders and setting are wonderful curved details, very typical for the Victorian aesthetic. This would make a beautiful modern day engagement ring.
HISTORY: This piece does not have any maker's marks, but the cut of diamond and overall style date it to the Victorian period, late 1800's.
MATERIALS: 10k gold, diamonds. Diamonds are estimated SI quality.
SIZE: Ring size 5 3/4. The width of the setting measures 8 mm, and each diamond is 2mm (.03ct). The piece weighs 1.84 g
CONDITION: While the piece overall is in good condition, there are two issues to note. First, the band is thinning, as can be expected with age. Secondly, one of the prongs appears to have broken off at some point in the past and needs retipping. While the stone appears secure and there is some prong left, it's definitely recommended to get this retipped prior to daily use. This condition issue is reflected in the price.
A gorgeous little piece. *Please note, antique ring boxes not included with purchase.
