Victorian Gold Fob Locket
$975
The best of what the Victorian period has to offer - a spinner fob locket with gorgeous black enamel detailing. This style of fob would have been worn by men on the vest, attached to a pocket watch chain.
On one side of the locket is a geometric Egyptian style motif in black enamel on a high relief panel, surrounded by a hand engraved design all around. On the flip side, the high relief panel has a black enamel outline with similar but differing hand engraved elements. At the upper and lower ends of this side are two tiny engraved arrows, symbolic of direction and guidance. Inside are two protectors allowing for either two photos or keepsakes.
An absolutely wonderful locket that can be worn as a modern day locket by a man or woman, or attached to a pocket watch chain.
HISTORY: There is a maker's mark of "K" on the bail, and all design elements date this to the Victorian period, late 1800's.
MATERIALS: 14k gold, stamped and acid tested. This locket comes with a new 18" gold filled chain.
SIZE: This locket measures 1.5" by 1", and is 3/8" thick. The locket weighs a substantial 11.7 g.
CONDITION: Lovely antique condition. There is a minor ding on the backside of the locket, barely noticeable, and the enamel is almost entirely intact. The locket opens and closes as it should, and has its photo protectors. I have left just a slight bit of patina to this piece. There is a scratch on the inside underneath the protector (e.g. never noticeable) where this was acid tested. The one photo protector is also just slightly loose, but still holding in place.
An absolutely stunning and special locket.
