Antique Rock Crystal and Rose Cut Diamond Pendant
An absolutely phenomenal antique rock crystal pendant brimming with 73 rose cut diamonds set into an intricate floral platinum border. Within the center of the carved rock crystal gemstone is a platinum star set with a tiny diamond.
Rock crystal evokes frozen rock, from whence it got its name in ancient Greek. It has been carved for jewelry since antiquity and gained a lot of popularity in the Art Deco era, when the back side of the crystal was often carved in the starburst pattern like what you see within this pendant in the listing.
This particular pendant feels very regal with its detailed design and substantial size. The mix of yellow gold and platinum makes for a beautiful contrast. It is such a statement piece on a longer chain!
HISTORY: 1920's Art Deco. This pendant was converted from a brooch at one point in its history.
