Antique Basket Setting Engagement Ring

$510

A little ring with so much fire! A lovely and dainty diamond is set within a minimalist basket setting on a warm high karat gold shank. From the top, this piece has the look of a simple solitaire, with the diamond taking center stage between slightly tapered shoulders. From the side, however, a multi-pronged basket setting gives the ring a unique and wonderful flair.

This diamond is eye clean and has tremendous scintillation, giving it so much life. LIke many older cut diamonds, this sparkles particularly beautifully under lower light.

HISTORY: There is an indiscernible maker marks on this piece. The setting, use of 18k gold, and the overall style date this to the Art Deco era, approximately 1930's.

MATERIALS: 18k yellow gold shank and platinum top. SI quality diamond.

SIZE: Ring size 4.5. The diamond is approximately .2 carats. A 4 mm "rise" off the finger. The ring weighs 1.55 g.

CONDITION: A well loved ring, but one that has many years of life left in it. The shank is on the thinner side, and overall it's a dainty piece. Prongs appear strong and not in need of reinforcement. There is a small maker's mark on the outside shank.

This is an absolutely fantastic ring that would make for a lovely promise or engagement ring.
