1960's William Ruser Sapphire and Mississippi Pearl Cherub Charm - Tuesday's Child

$385

Adored by Old Hollywood - Marlene Dietrich, Loretta Young and Joan Crawford - and commissioned for use in films by Motion Picture studios, William Ruser's jewelry was highly adored and is now highly collectible. In business from the 1940's to the 1970's in Beverly Hills (until sold to Van Cleef & Arpels) Ruser designed various sweet and sentimental gold charms, typically done in series. Many of his pieces included unique and beautiful Mississippi freshwater pearls, which he acquired early in his career and then used sparingly but with beautiful effect in pieces like this charm.

This charm is one from his Monday's Child series, based on the nursery rhyme of the same name. A gorgeously detailed gold cherub with vibrant sapphire eyes sits on a pearl cloud, with his hands clasped to his heart. This particularly charm is Tuesday's Child, "full of grace."

A wonderful piece of art and history by a master goldsmith.
