Celluloid Cat Necklace
What a fun piece! Celluloid, an early form of plastic and pre-Bakelite, was a material used often in 1920's and 1930's jewelry. It allows for whimsical yet lightweight designs, like this gorgeous carved cat pendant. With a cutout eye, and carved detailing in the body, she appears very lifelike and animated, and her arched form is a typical Art Deco design.
We've replaced the bail on this piece for a new sterling silver one, and have also put the pendant on a sterling silver curb chain, making her ready for her new chapter. A perfect piece for the cat or Art Deco lover!
