Silver Chatelaine Pencil Necklace

$125

So incredibly unique for a writer or lover of books and writing. This is a sterling silver antique mechanical pencil - which functions! - on a new 20" sterling silver bead chain. It has a beautiful chevron pattern.

In Victorian times ladies wore functional yet beautiful items around their waist on something like a belt, and those items were called chatelaines. Pencils, since they were always needed, often appeared as chatelaines at the time, and this gorgeous piece is one of those.

This pencil twists to move the lead/graphite up and down (like a modern day retractable pencil or pen), and it has lead in it.

HISTORY: Victorian, early 1900's

MATERIALS: Sterling silver

SIZE: The pencil measures approximately 2 3/4" when the bail (where the chain goes through) is included.

CONDITION: Overall good condition, and is in working condition. It has a tiny dent on the one side, as seen in the photo, and has a lovely patina to it.

These are rare and incredibly beautiful, and this would make a one-of-a-kind piece for the writer, book lover or teacher in your life!
