Antique Victorian Chatelaine Pendants
So incredibly unique for a writer or lover of books and writing! Here are your choice of two antique mechanical pencils - which function! - hailing from the turn-of-the-century.
In Victorian times ladies wore functional yet beautiful items around their waist on something like a belt, and those items were called chatelaines. Pencils, since they were always needed, often appeared as chatelaines at the time. These two pencils were used for this purpose.
Both pencils twist to move the lead/graphite up (like a modern day retractable pencil or pen). The sterling silver one needs manual pushing down back into the pencil. The sterling silver pencil is the longer of the two by just a hair, measuring just shy of 3.5". The silver tone pencil has no design and the sterling one has a beautiful hatch pattern. Both chatelaines have wear to them, including a few slight dents and corrosion (see photos).
These are rare and incredibly beautiful, and this would make a one-of-a-kind piece for the writer, book lover or teacher in your life!
