Small Art Deco Diamond and Ruby Ring
A gorgeous 1920's ring, with an old cut diamond at its center in a hexagonal setting, and gorgeous pink created rubies flanking either side. On each shoulder are engraved camphor leaves. Camphor leaf symbolism goes back to ancient times, considered a symbol of protection and believed to be mystical in the Japanese culture in particular. The setting on the north/south ends is beautifully curved with additional engraving. This ring is small, a size 4, so may have originally been a ring for a young girl. It would make a wonderful modern-day pinky or midi ring, ring for young girl, or engagement piece for the woman with smaller fingers.
HISTORY: 1920's Art Deco
MATERIALS: 14k white gold, diamond, created/synthetic rubies
SIZE: Ring size 4. The north/south width of the ring is 6mm, and the rise off the finger is slightly over 2 mm. The diamond measures 2mm, or approximately .03 carats. Each ruby measures 2mm in width. It's lighweight, weighing 1.3 g.
CONDITION: Overall great condition. The band is not overly thin. There are sometinynicks to the rubies, only evident under magnification, and the rubies are in fact different cuts so are not an exact match. The engraving on the one shoulder is just slightly worn in comparison to the other, evident in the photos.
An absolutely wonderful piece as a gift!
