Victorian Gutta Percha Dainty Necklace

$85

Tiny, and a perfect piece to layer - a Victorian gutta percha necklace. A rubber like substance made from trees, gutta percha was a common material used in Victorian jewelry, as it fit the mourning jewelry trend and maintained its black color over time. Gutta percha pieces were often molded, as was this little pendant. This piece resembles a small seed, with curved ridges all along it. A beautiful and delicate little necklace, which very well may have been a children's piece at one time.

HISTORY: Early 1900's Victorian

MATERIALS: Gutta percha, gold filled chain

SIZE: The necklace chain measures 16". The pendant is very small, hanging 11/16" from the chain and measuring just shy of 1/4" in width.

CONDITION: Good condition, with a slght patina to the gold fill.
